Making the Guyanese Thing A Reality

So, we are tracking down the Golden years of Guyana, at least as much as I can remember, and at the same time making sure there is a visual connection in some way that you and I can cherish, at least there will be a ray of sunshine in this cold and grey weather here in the UK, and as it gets worse we will ensure there is that Rum and Coconut water to quench the pallet and better still, if there is a cold coming on in the system, then its time for that one drop of Guyanese High Wine, and if that cannot be had then we will try the bush rum, but that is a different story, that one is not for the faint hearted, that is a bush mans medecine,so this producer decides we should visually document as much as possible, because when its gone, the ancient and historical buildings and all, at least there is something visually there for the new generation to look back on and say This Was, And Still Is My Guyana.

So this time I still runnning with the Camera on my shoulders and up comes the Mashramani CelebrationsFebruary month, for those of you who never heard the word, its an Amerindian word that means Celebration, and if you really want to know more abot the Amerindians, then you have to also see that production that was done by this producer, and to check out the Kynamaro site by my friend Claudette DeViera Fleming, this lady has some great stuff of our Amerindian people, will tell more of that when we get to that part of the story, so we talking bout Mash, you saw Carnival in Trinidad and other Islands, so Guyana's is simular except we in Guyana Really Enjoy ourselves, it is not a stiff thing it is a Guyanese thing which I can say in Guyanese term-Madness fuh Days, mind you that is a bit of our creolose dialect, and I will be passing some of our proverbs down your way so you can learn a Guyanese thing or two, thanks to my Good Friend Ms Joyce Trotman, that lady is a genius, she can really talk a good creoleose and speak the Queen's English perfectly too. Anyway the subject is Mash and creole, there is a new word they are now saying , let me write it big and big GUYANIAN, Lord help us what is that and when did that arrive, that was'nt even on Noah's Ark when the floods came the only thing that was there is one word -GUYANESE, so get it right, so if you really like a good whine up and shake up you have to come to Guyana for the Mash Celebrations every 23rd February and is also Republic day, that is when you will eat as we say TILL YUH BELLY BUS, of course that means untill you are over filled, so I made this DVD called The Golden Years Of Mash, so if you have never seen a bit of Guyana's Mash Now is the time to check it out, it is Music with action, before I leave today I must begin to bring you back to your Guyanese Proverbs, this is how we are going from today, so until we catch up tomorrow, I leave you with something to try and see if you can say it slowly, and then remember it all the same- ME AH DEAD HAAG A'READY, ME NA CA' E' FO' TINK.
